WiFi is today used commonly by almost everybody. The fact that the cords have stopped running along the walls has greatly simplified the life of users.
More practical, therefore, and totally entered into the customs, WiFi accompanies us in all our communication tasks.
But what is WiFi? And how can we connect to it?
WIFI
The word WiFi is an abbreviation. It is the contraction of the English terms Wireless Fidelity.
It defines the principle of a connection to a network (in this case here; Internet) without there being a need for wires to connect the different points of the network.
It is above all a local access (printer, scanner, box or connected objects for example). In practice, a terminal (computer, phone, tablet…) is linked to its access point to the Internet network (in general the box, but it can be a simple modem). The access point emits electrical waves, and the sensors located in the terminal receive them. The connection is established.
The advantages of the development of this system are above all of a practical and aesthetic order. No more wires, no more multiple plug-ins, and a free circulation of the terminals in the house, and up to the limit of the wave emissions.
This is why you can spot the boxes of your neighbors quite simply. Which does not mean that you can access them.
It seems important to specify however that a connection via WiFi is less performant than a wired connection. If you regularly have heavy files to transfer from one terminal to another, it is preferable to privilege the wired one.
Can you catch WIFI?
To know if your terminals have a WiFi receiver, simply refer to the user manual. It is part of the first things noted. If that was not the case, adapters exist, which allow receiving the signal and transferring the connection to the chosen terminal.
In the old boxes, you must insert a WiFi card to benefit from this technology, but this is no longer the case in recent equipment.
Where to find a free WIFI network?
When you are traveling, and you need a connection, the simplest is to stop in cafes or restaurants, and to ask for access to the WiFi. So no need to hack a wifi password.
